Myanmar Industrial and Commercial Energy Storage Project

一、 Project Background

The industrial and commercial electricity supply in Myanmar is facing problems such as high electricity prices, unstable power grids, and large peak valley price differences. Many factories, parks, and large commercial facilities rely on diesel generators as backup power sources, resulting in high operating costs. At the same time, the power grid infrastructure in some areas of Myanmar is weak, and there is often a shortage of power supply during peak hours (such as at night), which affects the normal production of enterprises.

This project plans to deploy 5 215kWh commercial and industrial energy storage systems (with a total capacity of 1075kWh), which will achieve peak shaving and valley filling through parallel operation, reduce enterprise electricity expenses, reduce dependence on diesel generators, and improve power grid stability.

二、 Current situation of Myanmar's electricity market

1. The electricity price is high and there is a significant difference between peak and valley prices. Myanmar's industrial and commercial electricity prices are relatively high, and some areas implement time of use electricity prices. During peak hours (such as 18:00-22:00), electricity prices are 1.5-2 times higher than during normal periods. The energy storage system can charge at a low price during low periods (such as nighttime or noon) and discharge during peak periods, reducing electricity costs.

2. The power supply of the power grid is unstable, and the infrastructure of Myanmar's power grid is backward, with frequent power outages in some areas. Enterprises are forced to use diesel generators, which increases operating costs. The energy storage system can serve as a backup power source, seamlessly switching during power outages to ensure power supply for critical loads.

3. Diesel power generation has high costs, and energy storage systems can reduce the operating time of diesel generators, lower fuel and maintenance costs.

三、 Advantages of energy storage and peak shaving valley filling solution project

Reduce electricity costs: Through peak valley arbitrage, it is expected to reduce electricity expenses by 20% -40%.

Reduce the use of diesel engines: lower fuel costs, reduce noise and carbon emissions.

Improve power supply reliability: The energy storage system provides uninterruptible power supply (UPS) function to reduce the risk of production interruption.

四、 Project necessity

1. Economic demand, calculated based on 1-2 daily charging and discharging cycles, the annual discharge capacity of the 1075kWh system can reach about 400000 to 800000 kWh. Assuming a peak valley price difference of 0.2 USD/kWh, the annual return is about 80000 to 160000 USD, and the investment payback period is about 4-6 years.

2. Stability is required. The Myanmar power grid fluctuates greatly, and the energy storage system can provide stable electricity to ensure continuous production.

3. Environmental protection and sustainable development, reducing diesel use, lowering carbon emissions, in line with international green energy trends.

五、 Potential challenges and countermeasures

Challenge 1: Unclear policies and grid standards in Myanmar

Countermeasure: Communicate with the local power department to ensure grid compliance, and adopt off grid or microgrid mode if necessary.

Challenge 2: High temperature environment affects battery life

Countermeasure: Choose high-temperature resistant LFP batteries and equip them with intelligent temperature control systems.

Challenge 3: High initial investment

Countermeasure: Adopt financing leasing or cooperate with energy service companies (ESCOs) to reduce initial financial pressure.

六、 Purpose

This project effectively solves the problems of high electricity bills, unstable power grid, and diesel dependence for Myanmar's industrial and commercial users through the parallel operation of 5 215kWh energy storage systems, with significant economic and reliability benefits. This model can be extended to scenarios such as factories, shopping malls, hospitals, etc., to help optimize Myanmar's energy structure.
